WIOL Makes a Splash at Interscholastics

Orienteers compare route choices after their races.

Nearly two dozen intermediate and high school students from across the Puget Sound area attended the US Interscholastic Orienteering Championship in Batavia, Ohio from April 8-11, 2010. They got got know each other better, took in the experiences of a national meet, got to run in the new club jersey, and competed well against the nation's top youth orienteers, with six youth delivering top-five finishes in their categories: Girls' Varsity -  Tracy Whelen (2), Bonnie Gilbery (3), Dana Breseman (5). Girls' JV - Sarah Rogers (2), Anne Wilkinson (4). Intermediate Boys':  Ondrej Cernan (4).

Teams also did well, getting 5th in School JV (Lakeside), 4th in School Varsity (Thomas Jefferson), 4th in Club  Intermediate, third and second in Club Varsity (Death Eaters, Dumbledore's Army), and first in Club JV (Touchee). It was an experience to remember!
