Orienteering Course Design class coming in January!

If you've ever wanted to learn how to design orienteering coursesthat are, interesting, and challenging and that people will talk about afterwards, now is your chance!

COC member and über course designer Dave Tallent will teach Orienteering Course Design on January 8, 2012. In a combination of in-class presentations and field exercises, you will learn the basic principles of good course design, including:

  • how to design courses appropriate for each skill level
  • how to balance navigational and physical challenges, even in an all-trails venue
  • how to design the best possible courses even in difficult terrain
  • common course-design errors and how to avoid them
