Two deadlines approaching on Sunday! Cascade Jerseys & MoboGoGlobo!‏

Just a reminder, we've got two deadlines coming up this Sunday!

1) The 2nd Annual MoboGoGlobo! event is on Saturday, March 27th, but the deadline for local runners to participate in the worldwide phenomenon is Sunday, March 14th. The local runners will run a 4.4km course at Seward Park without a map. The twist is that they will be paired teammates (with maps!) calling in from all over the world. Donations of at least $10 will be accepted at the event. Proceeds go toward sending our WIOL juniors to the United States Interscholastics Champs next month in Ohio. Additional information and registration can be found here.

Compare routes for Dash Point on RouteGadget!

Want to compare your route with others who ran your course? Try RouteGadget, which has just been set up for the Dash Point race. Go here and click Help to get started. You can draw your route, then play an animation that shows you in a head-to-head race with the competitors of your choice -- assuming that they, too, have entered their routes! Several routes for Courses 3 through 7 have already been entered.

Cascade OC Jerseys!

Cascade Orienteering Club is now taking orders through March 14th for our brand new club jerseys, which feature our bold new competition design! (click ''read more' to get to the online ordering steps)

The jerseys feature technical fabric, mesh side panels, a front zipper, and an optional zippered back pocket for a spare compass or energy gel.  They are custom-made by Siven, an orienteering apparel company that has previously outfitted the US Team. The jersey design is intended to be paired with black pants or shorts, so it will be easy to match. Keep your existing pants, or order some now.

Order your new COC Jersey at the Next Meet

Jerseys in the new COC competition design are available for advance ordering until March 13. They feature a bold new design that is now being rolled out across an entire line of Cascade-wear and other goodies in the volunteer catalog. To order your jersey, try the Fit Kit at the next meet, then place an order in your size, using either advance payment or volunteer points.

Welcome to our new web site!

As you've probably noticed, we've completely revamped our club web site. By doing this, we have a fresh look and feel, as well as new technical underpinnings that should give you more useful and up-to-date content. We know it might seem a bit disorienting at first, but please take the time to look around and we think you will like it. (The old website remains available, but will not be updated.)

If you have feedback or technical issues, please feel free to mail the club mailing list, or directly contact the webmaster or technical manager.

Winter O' Series Has Started

The Winter O' Series, held in conjunction with WIOL, has begun its series of eight meets. We will be orienteering at Lake Samammish Park, Magnuson Park, North Seatac Park, UW Campus, Fort Steilacoom, Fire Mountain, and Dash Point (Championship).

To participate in the Winter O' Series, just sign up for Course 7 at the public course registration table of any WIOL meet. For more information, see the Winter O' Series welcome page.

WIOL 2009/2010 Season Has Started

Judging by the starts so far, this will be one of our most active seasons yet for our school league. We also have a lot of newcomers this year, so if you are signed up as day-of-meet, please arrive early enough to get through the registration line before your start time. And if you would like to convert from day-of-meet to a season registration, you can start bypassing the line completely...

For the latest meet results, see the WIOL Results site. What's WIOL? See an overview on the Washington Interscholastic Orienteering League welcome page.

WIOL Begins Nov 7

Elementary, Middle School, and High School students can participate in the Washington Interscholastic Orienteering League (WIOL).

WIOL consists of 8 events roughly every other Saturday throughout the winter, starting on November 7th, and culminating in the WIOL Championships on February 20. Each event is at a different park in the Puget Sound area. Its a great way to exercise your body and your mind at the same time.

It is highly recommended for students to pre-register for the season. Sign up today!
