Ultimate Orienteer #5 (Long) - Pt. Defiance
There will be four courses available. Given the nature of the park and vegetation, there is no really advanced navigation necessary, mostly it is the trail run, with some choice of routes. At some places it will look like crossing a patch of the woods is the best route, and this can be done. There is no need to leave the trails on beginners course.
Please keep in mind, that there is a loop of road coming through the park and you will have to cross it several times on your course. While the traffic is slow and there are not too many cars, you should still cross carefully.
Besides the usual blackberries and bushes, there are also plenty of nettles there.
The long course goes near the new dog of-leash area. You do not need to cross it, but in the case you overshoot the control, well, if you get greeted by bunch of lose dogs, you have run too far. ;-)
